Every hosting package supplied by Host Canary includes the ability to create basic Email accounts.
The only limitation you have is storage space. Each hosting package has an allocated amount of storage. Depending which package you subscribe to will determine the amount of storage. Our Basic package comes with 1GB of SSD LiteSpeed storage. The 1GB is used for storing all the files that make up your website and also for the storage of any Email accounts you create.
A typical small business website and email account will live quite happily on our Basic package so long as careful management of content is employed.
Using Your Email Account
First and foremost, your Email account should be used for the sending and receiving of emails only.
What we mean by this, is that you should not use your Email account for storing file attachments. Text or HTML emails are relatively small in file size. Attachments like photo's, PDF's or Word documents tend to be larger in file size. These larger files can add up quite quickly and before too long you could encounter your account quota being full. This will then result in you being unable to send and receive emails until your account is brought back under quota.
Attachments
Email attachments such as Photo's, PDF's or Word Documents should be downloaded and stored on your device (Computer/Tablet/Smart Phone). The Email containing these attachments can then be safely deleted.
Inbox, Sent, Junk & Other Folders
Every folder counts towards your quota. Not just your Inbox.
When you Send an Email or reply to an email, a copy of your message is stored in a Sent folder. If you send an Email with an attachment, this is also stored in the Sent folder. Periodically checking your Sent and Junk folders and removing any emails with large attachments is a good idea.
Using an Email Client
Email Clients such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Mail for Mac or some of the mobile/tablet versions can be used to help manage your Emails. One feature of this type of software is the ability to save a local copy of your emails while removing them from the server.
